We do big things in small places. That is the theme—the theme of leadership in small sample viscometry--that resonated through three days of presentations and hands-on workshops given to CVI Agents present from around the world.
From Mexico to the United Kingdom, from Brazil to Japan, Agent representatives from all over the world descended on CVI worldwide outside of Boston, Massachusetts to attend the Agent Summit held in early April.
The Agents were welcomed by CVI President, Robert Kasameyer, and informed that 2010 had been the best year in CVI’s history and that high expectations were held for 2011 and beyond. They also learned that CVI maintains important positions in 4 major markets: a gold standard position for reservoir fluid analysis in the Oil and Gas exploration markets; a growing position in asphalt and lubricant processing in the Refining and Oil analysis markets; a premier instrument for early stage drug discovery and device development in the Biotech/Life Sciences markets; and a leading instrument for controlling performance materials in the Coatings and Chemicals markets. Two of the agents, Japan Controls and Pensalab were celebrated for their exceptional performance in 2010.
During the next three days, the Agents gained a wealth of application-based learning from sessions entitled “Oil Exploration Markets,” “Oil Analysis Markets,” “Life Sciences Markets,” and “Optical & Medical Coatings” among others. Bill Small, CVI Regional Sales Manager, was quick to point out the positive feedback he received from his Agents. “The meeting was a great success according to our agents who attended. Our Mexico Agent, Rawson, was especially pleased with the Hands-On Training and all the information he received on the oil applications, which he intends to be pursuing in Mexico with a government-owned oil company."
In addition to the application-based learning, the Agents also received extensive hands-on training designed by Dan Airey, CVI Director of Engineering. A selection of the hands-on training sessions included: “Selecting a Process Viscometer,” “VISCOpvt,” “Calibrating a Viscopro/Viscolab Viscometer,” and “Troubleshooting In-Line Viscometers.” Airey was careful to point out that the training did not just go one way and that those doing the training learned just as much as the trainees. “Our agents are on the front lines talking to our customers around the world. While our Engineers provided product training, valuable feedback was obtained to help improve our products and services. The time spent forming relationships with our international agents greatly enhances our ability to provide successful viscosity management solutions in the countries we serve.”
A post-Summit anonymous survey was conducted and the Summit drew high marks with the majority of respondents reporting that the entire Summit was helpful. Thus, it is very likely that a future Agent Summit will be in store for Cambridge Viscosity.
