CVI Small Sample Viscometer Used for Silkworm Protein Measurements

small sample viscometerBoston—Cambridge Viscosity announces that a prestigious Boston area university has purchased a small sample viscometer for biomedical research in its school of engineering.

Cambridge President Rob Kasameyer explains, “They are dealing with an extremely sensitive protein, extracted from a silkworm. The viscosity of this protein must be monitored and remain stable throughout the research effort, but only a small amount of material is available. They selected the VISCOlab 4000 because it requires a small sample of fluid and is accurate, as well as being easy to use and clean.”

The VISCOlab 4000 is a viscometer that measures up to 12 viscosity ranges. This small sample viscometer requires less than 1.5 ml of sample per measurement and is self-cleaning. The VL4000 allows for statistical certainty that ensures sample conditions are stable, accurate and repeatable. Because of its innovative oscillating piston design, the VISCOlab 4000 measures fluids in all viscosity ranges at ambient temperatures, assuring consistent and repeatable viscosity measurements. The VISCOlab 4000 incorporates a serial interface to make it easy to output data to a PC or an optional thermal printer.
