Fuel:Bio LLC. Relies on Cambridge Viscosity Products in Production of Biodiesel

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cambridge Viscosity, Inc., a leading manufacturer of high-quality viscometers for laboratory and process environments, has announced that New Jersey-based Fuel:Bio One, a division of Fuel:Bio Holdings, is using its VISCOpro 2000 viscometer for the consistent production of ASTM-quality Biodiesel fuel.
The largest commercial producer of Biodiesel in the northeast, Fuel:Bio utilizes proprietary technology and chemistry to produce ASTM D6751 product from virgin feed stock sources such as soy and palm oils. The VISCOpro 2000 is providing accurate measurement of the fuel’s viscosity during the production cycle to control final product quality.
Providing inline quality control
“Viscosity is a very important determinant of the quality of our product,” says Marty Borruso, CEO of Fuel:Bio Holdings. “At a critical point in the production cycle, we rely on Cambridge Viscosity’s technology to confirm that the viscosity of our fuel is within proper levels. If it were to be too high, it would show that the reaction was not complete and we would have to reprocess the product, which introduces costs and delays. It is essential, therefore, that we have consistently accurate, reliable, and continuous measurements, and that we keep our process within the appropriate control limits to spot problematic trends before they impact our product.
“We trust Cambridge Viscosity because of their experience in refining environments, and because their products are robust yet have low maintenance requirements,” says Borruso. “We started production with the VISCOpro 2000 at the end of February and we are very satisfied with the results to date.”
Fuel with a future
Fuel:Bio currently has the capacity to produce more than 50 million gallons of Biodiesel per year. With a planned expansion from one plant to 10 along the east coast of the US, total capacity will increase to more than 500 million gallons annually.
Biodiesel is a clean-burning alternative fuel produced from domestic, renewable sources of vegetable or animal fats and oils. While it contains no petroleum, it can be blended at any level with petroleum diesel to create a Biodiesel blend. It is both biodegradable and nontoxic, and reduces petroleum emissions by more than 75%.
